Kurt L. Soffe CFSP - Owner/Funeral Director

Kurt is a fourth generation funeral director and co-owner of the Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Homes and Cremation Center established in 1915 with locations in Murray and South Jordan. He currently serves as a member of the spokesperson team for the National Funeral Directors Association with membership of 22,000+ funeral professionals nationwide with headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Kurt is a graduate of Murray High school, LDS Business College and Cypress College with a degree in Mortuary Science. He also earned the national distinction of CFSP (Certified Funeral Service Practitioner) a distinction held by only 16 additional funeral directors in Utah. Kurt is a past president of the Utah Funeral Directors Association and past member of the Policy Board of the National Funeral Directors Assn. Also holds a current Life/Health Insurance license with State of Utah. He is a certified cremation facility operator as awarded by the Cremation Association of North America.

Kurt served seven years on the Board of Directors for the Intermountain Donor Services (IDS) a federally designated nonprofit community service organization dedicated to the recovery and transplantation of organs and tissues. IDS serves Utah, southeastern Idaho, and western Wyoming, encompassing 2.7 million residents, 79 hospitals, and three transplant centers. He also served on the board of directors for the Murray Area Chamber of Commerce and was honored in 2012 by South Jordan Chamber of Commerce as Business Man of the Year.

He has served in many positions with youth and young adults organizations in the South Jordan area, also served an LDS mission to the Philippines, including numerous volunteer scouting & church positions.

Kurt married his high school sweetheart, Lynette Bullough who currently manages the office of the South Valley funeral home. They have four children, two boys and two girls and six grandchildren. Together they love to hike our mountains, travel this great country and spoil the grandkids.

V. Blake Soffe Owner/Funeral Director

Raised in Murray and attended schools there, graduating from Murray high School in 1983. Married Amy Oliver in 1989 and have four children Jake (Kori), Danielle, Brett, and Derek. Received Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Utah. Graduate of the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. Began working for the family business in 1992 under the tutelage of Grandfather Vaughn, Father Gregg and other family members. In keeping with the traditions and practices of those that have come before him, he has had the privilege and honor of assisting hundreds of families at their time of need.

Blake has had the opportunity of serving on various committees in the funeral industry with the latest being the Program Advisory Committee for the Mortuary Science Program at the Community College. His continued involvement on various community Athletic Boards and also Coaching on many different levels and sports has given him some of his greatest rewards.

Roger Wilcox Funeral Director

Roger was born and raised in Salt Lake City. He attended Grandview Elementary, Hillside & Southeast Junior High Schools, and graduated from Highland High School in 1970. Roger enjoyed participating in sports and was a member of the high school band and orchestra. He also was a member of the All City Choir and All City Orchestra. Roger studied the bassoon for 7 years. Upon graduating from high school he attended the University of Utah . He served an LDS mission to North Central Mexico. After returning home he resumed his studies at the U of U. Roger began working for Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary in Sept. of 1975 where he served his apprenticeship.

He attended and graduated with honors from the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science.

He married Kathy Ray of South Lake Tahoe in 1976 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Kathy is employed with the Department of Public Safety, Bureau of Criminal Identification as a manager. They have four children Rob, Kristin, Tami, and Heidi. They have been blessed with 13 grandchildren; 8 boys and 5 girls. Roger and Kathy moved to Kearns in November of 1979 where they have made many friends and life-long relationships. Their children have been involved in competition soccer as well as Kearns High School athletics. Roger has been involved with Utah Youth Soccer for over 25 years. Roger has been an active member of the LDS Church where he has served in numerous callings and was a bishop for nearly 8 years. Roger has devoted his life to his family, church, and his employment and considers himself fortunate to serve the people he loves.

Brandon W. Burningham Funeral Director CFSP, CPC

It has been a great honor for Brandon to take care of families for 21 years. As a first generation funeral director, he graduated from Cypress College in Cypress, California with an Associate Degree in Mortuary Science. As a student he was awarded the Student of the Year Award and received the Mu Sigma Alpha award for academic achievement. He earned his certification as a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) and a Certified Pre-planning Consultant (CPC) in 2007. After school he found another profession that claimed his heart: fatherhood. He has three children, one boy and two girls. Coaching his kids’ soccer teams, going on daddy/daughter dates, volunteering in Boy Scouts, and speaking during Career Day at his children’s school (arriving in the hearse!) are just some of Brandon’s duties as a dedicated father. Brandon and his wife Brandy reside with their family in Murray, Utah.

Brandon has served as District I Funeral Director and served in several other positions in (UFDA) the Utah Funeral Directors Association including President of UFDA. Currently he serves as a board member and Immediate Past Chair of the Murray Area Chamber of Commerce, mentor and adult leader to the Murray City Youth Council, Murray Youth Chamber and Murray Youth EXCEL Club. He also is a proud member of the Exchange Club of Murray, and serves as an advisory board member for the Intermountain Donor Services. Brandon is currently licensed as a Funeral Service Director for the State of Utah and holds a license to sell residential life insurance.

Claudia Densley has worked in the funeral business for just over a year, and enjoys working with families, assisting them during this important and difficult time of need. (Since losing her mother, and experiencing their dedication, compassion and diligence first hand, she is even more proud to be part of the Jenkins-Soffe team.)

She has lived in Salt Lake Valley most of her life, is married to Bruce Densley, a proud mother of 4, and grandmother of 1 (so far).

Claudia loves time spent with family and friends, especially watching her children participate in sports, such as football, soccer and baseball. She has served on school community groups, LDS church service callings and many PTA boards. Other interests include reading, oil painting, sewing, floral and interior design. She is an avid gardner, working in that industry for many years.

Joyce Anderson Assistant Office Manager

Joyce joined the staff of Jenkins-Soffe in February of 2016.  She grew up in Murray and graduated from Granite High School.  In 1966 she married her childhood sweetheart, Brent Anderson, and they have made their home in Murray for the past 50 years.  They have two daughters and four grandchildren.

 

Joyce has served as a member and President of the Murray Board of Education, President/CEO of the Murray Area Champber of Commerce, Project Coordinator for the Salt Lake Olympic Planning Office, and as a Project Support Specialist for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.  She joined the Murray Rotary Club in 1988 and was elected its first woman president in 1996-97.  She currently seves as the secretary of the club.
